Cindy Olmes, OH
Featured Poster Artist
Best of Category Mixed Media winner at the November 2021 Celebration
Cindy received her Bachelors of Fine Art from The Art Academy of Cincinnati in 1990. She has worked in many different mediums including printmaking, pastel oil and acrylic. Her current series of female figurative work is created exclusively with decorative art paper and acrylic paint. Each woman is built layer by layer from bits of torn and cut paper and paint until the entire woman comes to fruition. This process speaks to the idea that we are all created layer by layer throughout our lives. We are the evolution of our ideas and experiences. We are one and we are many pieces of each other.
These materials are applied in layers to canvas. In the layering of these materials Cindy wishes to express the layers and experiences that shape each one of us over time. The singular subject of her work is the female figure. Each woman’s unique strength is the center of every piece she creates.
Poster Art: THE TOURIST
Perhaps she is having the time of her life, or maybe she just got off the plane and is beginning her relaxing time away from work or kids or the hassle of the daily grind.
All Cindy's women seem to hold a secret we'd love them to share with us. In their presence the viewer has a sense of peace, strength and timelessness.
For many of us living in southern California, the desert is our oasis – the place to come, relax, chill and put our hectic lives behind us for long weekends or escapes. It is our respite and eventually may become our home.
This art is in recognition of the economic impact of tourism, our largest industry, in the Coachella Valley. It generates more than $7 billion annually and employs over 60,000 people.

Based in the Utah desert outside of Zion National Park, Jenny and Ryno travel together throughout the West, creating visual journals of their time spent on the road and in dramatic landscapes. Their bright, colorful paintings utilize lush texture and vibrant color, while maintaining their own unique perspectives on the canvases they share.
Jenny's work is up close and personal, putting viewers face to face with luscious blossoms and plants, whimsical animals and birds. Working with oil pastel, acrylic and oil paint, Jenny lays down layers of thick and thin pigment, creating stylized bouquets of color that are exuberant and playful snapshots of nature's abundance.
In contrast, Ryno's work features larger landscapes and sweeping views, as if the eye had merely looked up and beyond Jenny's intimate florals. His dynamic oil paintings distill and enhance the most important elements of each scene he captures - loose, impressionistic renderings of unforgettable vistas and vintage vehicles.
Together Jenny and Ryno work on each canvas to create a conversation about perspective and our relationship with the environment we all live and travel in. Their sunny and optimistic art shows us ways of seeing the beauty of nature and the adventure of life from both the close up and grand perspective.
