About The Artist
Life's Circle
I spent the first 27 years of my life in South Dakota. A wonderful land. I went to the universities here and received my Bachelor's degree and Master's degree in Fine Art. These years made a permanent imprint on my life. With encouragement from my parents, I went off to Phoenix, Arizona to start my career in art. It was an enormous step. It took a couple of years to find a niche to fit into. It was a lucky day when I landed a job as an artist with a company that sold art nationwide. The pay didn't start well. I was actually making less than I did in Sioux Falls. But it was making art.
I worked for Phoenix Art Group for 9 years, creating art! By then, I had married and had two children. I moved on with my career and went out on my own. There were some hard times, but I continued my journey as a full time artist. After 25 years in Arizona, my yearning for open places and the land I grew up in began to pull at me. It took 5 years more before my family and I moved back to South Dakota. My husband, son and I live on an acreage in the country. We have horses again. My artwork has found new paths and returned to old ones. My work has blossomed. I can't wait to start my next painting!
Nearly the entire work I will be presenting at La Quinta Encore Celebration will be work created for this show. I have been exploring my quiet, introspective horses using limited palettes. I also have been working on a few paintings that capture moments of the relationship with the horse and rider. This will be my first time as an artist to La Quinta. I must say, I am thrilled to be here and show you my work!
