I create art so I can be a complete person. I aim to make an emotional connection between my art and the people who view it. Here is my story;

Graduating with a Bachelors of Fine Arts and a Bachelor of Science I was not clear on how to make a living from my art. So, I went into business full time and created my art part time. Some of the modalities included Photography, Metal Sculpture, Acrylic Painting and Raku Sculptural Ceramics. Many classes, workshops, and teachers helped me with my artistic endeavors.

While attracted to various expressions of my love for art, over the years the choice of medium was usually made due to space or time limitations.

An early retirement from the corporate world and a move to a larger home gave me the opportunity to explore Raku Sculptural Ceramics.

I fell in love with the balance of technique and serendipity. I loved pushing the limits of the clay and the Raku process. It is a passionate technique!

As life happens, I became a caregiver for my Mother. Pretty much all artist endeavors came to a halt. After she passed, and my sweet dog died I was full of sadness. I remembered what my Mother used to ask me if I was feeling down, “Are you doing any art?” I wasn’t.

Looking online at different painting techniques, I was drawn to the color blocking and layering technique of Bette Ridgeway and her mentor, Paul Jenkins. I wanted to learn more.

So I emailed Bette and ask her if she teaches any workshops. The answer was no. But, she requested to see some of my current work and my Raku work so she could judge my level of ability. Once a year she will choose a student to teach the layering technique at her studio in Santa Fe NM. I was it for 2018!

My new artist passion emerged! Another modality that relies not only on technique and the knowlege of the craft but also the acceptance of seredipitios results! Letting go!

My technique is called “Fluid Dimensions” and is a version of what my teacher, Bette Ridgeway taught me and what her mentor, the famous artist, Paul Jenkins taught her. It is controlled and spontaneous at the same time. It is a fine balance of technique and serendipity. Since starting with my Fluid Dimensions paintings I have been blessed with numerous national and international awards.

Doreen Wulbrecht's "Fluid Dimensions" is a testament to the transformative power of fluid art, a genre that reshapes the boundaries of traditional painting. Wulbrecht has mastered the delicate art of fluid painting, using thin, flowing paints to create large-scale abstract masterpieces that defy conventional brushwork. Her collection is not just an exploration of color and form, but a journey into the realm of spontaneity and controlled chaos.

The paintings within "Fluid Dimensions" are born from a unique process that involves layering and manipulating the canvas while the paint is still wet. This technique ensures that no two pieces are alike, each one a singular expression of the moment in which it was created. As the paint settles and dries, it is stretched into place, ready to captivate onlookers when displayed.

What is immediately striking about Wulbrecht's work is the vibrant interplay of colors. Each hue flows and blends into the next with a harmony that is both natural and meticulously orchestrated. The fluidity of her medium allows for a dynamism that is often sought but rarely captured so vividly on canvas. It's as if each piece pulses with its own life force, inviting viewers to engage in a dialogue with the art.

These abstract acrylic works are spontaneous yet possess an underlying sense of intention. Wulbrecht guides the paint with a skillful hand, allowing it to form organic shapes and patterns that seem to emerge naturally from the canvas. The result is a collection that feels both immediate and timeless, inviting a diverse range of emotional responses from those who experience it.

Emotion is indeed at the core of "Fluid Dimensions." Wulbrecht's paintings are a reflection of the deep human connection to art that transcends the visual. They evoke feelings of wonder, introspection, and a profound appreciation for the beauty that can arise from surrendering to the flow of creativity. These are not just paintings; they are experiences, encapsulated on canvas.

The versatility of presentation is another aspect that sets this collection apart. Whether framed in a floating frame that adds a sleek, modern edge or left as a stretched canvas that speaks to the raw beauty of the art form, each piece adapts to its environment while remaining the focal point of any room.

Wulbrecht's "Fluid Dimensions" speaks to the heart of what abstract art aims to be: a pure expression of the artist's vision and a catalyst for emotional resonance in the viewer. The large-scale format of these pieces magnifies their impact, offering a bold statement that is both personal and universal.

In essence, the collection is a celebration of the unpredictable beauty that emerges from the interplay of skill and chance. Wulbrecht's command over the fluidity of her medium serves as a dance of color and texture that unfolds across the canvas. The layers of paint converge to create depth and movement, giving each painting a sense of life that seems almost sentient.

The physicality of Wulbrecht's process also contributes to the unique character of her work. By bending and shaping the canvas, she influences the flow of paint in ways that brushes could never replicate. This physical interaction with the medium is a performance in itself, with each resultant work serving as a still image of an intimate dance between artist and canvas.

In the world of abstract art, where interpretation is as varied as the audience, "Fluid Dimensions" stands out for its ability to connect with viewers on a visceral level. The paintings do not just hang on the wall; they reach out into the space and draw the onlooker into their depths. The organic forms that appear within the swirling colors suggest elements of the natural world—floral motifs, aquatic scenes, celestial bodies—yet they resist definitive identification, instead existing as suggestions for the mind to ponder.

The emotional responses elicited by these paintings are a testament to their layered complexity. Some viewers may feel a sense of calm wash over them as they take in the cool blues and soft edges of a particular piece, while others might find their pulse quickening at the sight of fiery reds and sharp contrasts. The art is a catalyst, drawing out whatever feelings lie beneath the surface of those who engage with it.

The "Fluid Dimensions" collection is a testament to Wulbrecht's ability to harness the unpredictability of fluid art and to steer it into creations that are as thought-provoking as they are beautiful. Through her work, Wulbrecht invites us to reflect on the fluid dimensions not just of paint, but of human emotion and artistic expression.

Doreen Wulbrecht ’s “Fluid Dimensions” is a collection where the fluidity of the medium becomes a metaphor for the human condition—ever-changing, vibrant, and profound. These paintings are not static images; they are dynamic entities that engage in a silent yet powerful communication with their audience. They encapsulate the ephemeral nature of beauty and the enduring quest for meaning that defines our existence.

Each piece, with its bursts and rivulets of color, is a universe unto itself, encouraging viewers to lose themselves in contemplation.

Wulbrecht has not only created a series of paintings; she has curated an experience that stands out for its emotional depth and technical mastery. The "Fluid Dimensions" collection is a vivid reminder of the power of abstract art to move and inspire, to challenge and comfort. It is a reflection of an artist who is fully attuned to her craft, producing work that is both a celebration of the medium and a gift to the viewer.

Doreen Wulbrecht’s collection invites us into a world where the canvas is a portal to the intangible, where the flow of paint is a language without words, and where each painting is a reminder of the boundless possibilities inherent in a single moment of creativity. It is a world that is well worth the visit, leaving a lasting impression that lingers long after one has walked away from the canvas.
