About The Artist
Born in Montreal, I am a contemporary Canadian oil painter based in Los Angeles who creates art that weaves conceptual themes into a framework that celebrates the natural world.
I bring both meticulous formal expertise and back country plein air experience to my paintings creating a compelling contrast of skills to execute conceptual themes.
I am an alumni of Saskatchewan's legendary art retreat at Emma Lake and have been exhibited internationally. My work is in private collections across the United States, Canada, China, Belgium and Hungary.
I am a painter and I edit my compositions to include only what is essential, like a visual haiku. My work appears to move through the use of deep impasto and simultaneous contrast. I paint very quickly which translates into gestures that represent a specific moment in nature. I am currently working on a series of large scale California wildflower paintings which are intended to immerse the viewer among the flowers and grasses.
