Tools For Tomorrow

Tools For Tomorrow

On March 13, 2020, Coachella Valley schools were shut down and Tools For Tomorrow programs were suspended.  Our student’s lives were changed forever.

Tools For Tomorrow had just had its most successful fundraiser ever and we were excited and honored to be the beneficiary of the first La Quinta Art Celebration Event.

Tools For Tomorrow has always said that its integrated arts literacy program provides a coping mechanism for our children.  The pandemic put our children and our program to the test.

In order to keep up with the demand for the Tools For Tomorrow program and to honor and respect those who had supported the program, TFT pivoted and brought our integrated-arts programs and theatre program online.   During the summer of 2020, TFT updated our website so that students could register online.  We trained our teachers to teach online through UCLArts&Healing – Social and Emotional Arts on a Shoestring program.  In the Fall of 2020, TFT offered 14 online programs including a theatre program with Zoom, through our host schools. More than 330 students registered for TFT programs during the 2020/2021 school year.

Children were able to connect with their classmates, make new friends and share their concerns.  Teaching Artists made sure each child was seen and heard.  Teachers got to know their students on a new level.  Siblings joined the online classes, parents popped in and out to meet the teachers and express their gratitude.

Tools For Tomorrow learned that we were no longer limited by “host schools”.  We were encouraged to open our programs to students from all of the Title 1 schools in the Desert Sands Unified School District.  This year we have students attending from 24 of the elementary schools in the Coachella Valley, and from all three Unified School Districts: Desert Sands, Palm Springs and Coachella Valley.

As we begin 2022 with Covid numbers increasing, it is easy to feel discouraged and disconnected again.  We are so thankful to you and La Quinta Art Celebration for supporting Tools For Tomorrow.

You are giving our students an opportunity to learn about the arts and express themselves creatively in a safe environment. TFT students benefit from the development of academic and personal life skills, increased self-confidence, positive social networks, and a desire for continued involvement with the Arts. You are supporting a program that brings education, culture and communities together. You are truly making a difference in the lives of our students, their families and our Coachella Valley.

Thank you!!

A portion of proceeds from La Quinta Art Celebration supports Tools For Tomorrow.

We are excited about this important and meaningful partnership!
