New to SPRING 2025!
Joshua Noah Dopp started working with glass in 1988 while studying fine art at Santa Barbara Community College in California. After receiving his AA in studio art he transferred to the University of California at Santa Barbara where he earned his BA in Art History. After 5 years of working for professional artists, museums, galleries and participating in a glass concentration at Penland School of Crafts in 1998, he attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign earning his MFA in Sculpture/Glass in 2001. After graduate school he took part in a three-month fellowship at the Creative Glass Center of America, Millville, New Jersey in 2002. Joshua has exhibited extensively from New York to California and in Europe winning various awards and honors. He was a Master Level Instructor at the Mesa Arts Center for 12 years and for the last fifteen years he has used his Mobile Glass Studio the Highway Hotshop, running workshops and doing public and private demonstrations.
In 2020 Joshua brought in Nicolette Gerron and started working together in the hot shop. With Nicolette, Joshua found the perfect partner to help run his growing art business. With 15 years as an ICU RN Nicolette understands the urgency hot glass demands and brings an attention to detail and creative energy that has helped the Doppler Design brand to grow. The force of these two is exemplified by the awards they have earned. In 2022 they took a mobile glass shop to the playa of Burning Man and have been recognized at many art shows. Both artists are additionally working on their respective personal works as well as the Doppler Design pieces. Joshua and Nicolette Dopp live and work by the beautiful Verde river in Clarkdale, Az and are in the throes of building a state of the art 3000 square foot dream studio.
Glass artist collaboration Joshua Dopp and Nicolette Dopp/Joshicole formed in 2020 after recognizing similarities and compatibilities of creative forces. Their work looks for that beginning edge of tension between beauty and ugly unbalanced chaos.
The feminine and the masculine characteristics found in nature form as a starting point but ultimately seeks to rest in harmony and balance while pushing ever so slightly to just fall apart. Burgeoning ideas are explored together with Joshua often taking the first steps in creating the work, with Nicolette’s tight attention to detail coming into edit and steer the work to perfection.
