I was born in Paris and attended school in France, Germany, Spain, and the U.K. I hold a B.A. from Université de Paris 3 - Sorbonne Nouvelle and I degree in international business from the École Supérieure du Commerce Extérieur in Paris. I spent 5-1/2 years in Tokyo as a permanent resident of Japan, lecturing at prestigious Sophia University (Joshi Daigaku) as well as pursuing my research on the ties and origins of Sumo and Shinto. I authored and published a very successful paperback on the topic (in the French language: Sumo - Le Sport et le Sacré) and was hired by Fuji Televsion as anchorman and MC for a Sumo Exhibition/tournament which drew 48,000 spectators over 3 days at the Bercy Arena in Paris.

In 1982, I settled in Southern California, where I founded Graphie International Inc, which is still in operation and began a new career as an international broker of intellectual property. In 1985 I brought to the U.S. market an advanced encryption software for Apple computers named Fileguard. With help of European investors, I created a new corporation (ASD Sofware) presiding over its operations as Executive Vice-President. This allowed Fileguard to be adopted widely by U.S. governmental agencies and universites, mostly through site licenses. This success led to an acquisition by a larger group in 1997. During my stint as a software publisher, I hired and presided over ±50 full-time American employees from about 250 I interviewd.

For the next two years, I spent most of my time traveling the world, in particular the American West. In 1999 I turned my passion into a new venture. Thanks to my long-time relationships with wholesale and distribution channels, I transitioned easily from software publisher to book publisher. I started with a small travel guidebook called Land of the Canyons - A Photographer’s Guide to Utah and Arizona. The surprising success of this book led me to write three more guidebooks under the moniker Photographing the Southwest, which became a huge hit. This success led me to publish addional books in the series, written and photograhed by renowned photographers. By the time of the third editions, two of the books I authered (Utah and Arizona) had each 384 pages and 400 color photographs and received numerous awards. Covid and the rise of social media, as well as burnout, led me to put an end to the book business in 2023.

In parallel to the book business and pushed by my staff, I started yet a new venture in 2003, selling my photography at high-end art festivals. Over a 22-year career I participated in more than 300 shows. In particular, I pride myself of having participated non-stop in all of the La Quinta Art Celebration since 2004 and likewise with the Southwest Arts Festival and Art on Main Street (ex-Art under the Umbellas). I am well known from peers and patrons for my extra-large booths consisting of six canopies. Now in my seventies, I plan to continue the shows for as long as I can, although with a reduced workload. I now have a short show season from late November to late Mach and a long season of travels the rest of the time. As of early 2025, I haves visited 95 countries, some repeatedly.

I seek to challenge the imagination with images for contemporary interiors, ranging from starkly minimalist compositions to complex abstracts. My years in Tokyo, Japan have had a profound influence on my sense of esthetics and my vision of form and color. This is reflected in my style, which is more akin to painting than photography with its combination of bold colors, unique textures and a striking sense of depth, achieved with the help of medium and large format equipement. In the past few years, I have been essentially motivated to exhibit by the contact with my peers and patrons.
