My professional journey started out in college at the University of California San Diego as a film and visual arts student. I spent a nuber of years in SoCal shooting commercail advertising photography. In 1995 I moved to NYC to pursue my career. After managing photo shudios in NYC, I decided to focus all my effort in the fine art realm, showing my work in galleries in the Hamptons and the UK. I've been showing my work for the last 16 years at juriedc art festivals arond the country. I especially like doing abstract and collage work, much with the help of computer and software programs. My work changes as I grow and find new inspirations, being from California and living on the coast much of my life I tend to shoot ocean related images, primarilly to include people, and more recently entirely in abstract format.
Much of my current work are collage and layered images of crowds at beaches and piers that take on an interesting look depeding on the viewing distance. Multiple images are also combined to create the final artwok.
As a departure to my coastal genre, my last photoshoot this month, was in Joshua Tree National Park. I really like the forms, shapes color and texture that I could find in the landscape. I will bring some of these to La Quinta. I'm leaning toward a painterly effect in my photo work, and I am actullay begining to paint on canvas much like the abstract expressionist painters, from my images. But thats a new project in the offing- that I am going to be working on in the future.
