The human body is the driving force behind my work—echoing Picasso’s belief that all art stems from it. Born to a painter and a sculptor, I’ve drawn for as long as I can remember, and the style you see here began in my teens. Though I earned a BFA in drawing and sculpture, a summer job led to a 35-year career in commercial photography before I returned to fine art over the past decade. I feel incredibly grateful that this second artistic career has been so warmly received.
My influences include Matisse, Picasso, Calder, Saul Steinberg, and Marvel’s Jack Kirby. Each piece begins as a quick pencil or marker sketch on copy paper—simple, spontaneous, and intuitive, often emerging after a few warm-up drawings when the subconscious takes over. My goal is to reveal something new or cast the familiar in a different light, offering viewers joy, strength, humor, and a touch of irony and whimsy.
