Tanya Kirouac was born and raised in Montreal, Canada. She knew was interested in art from the time she was a small child. Always drawing, sketching, and creating with anything she could get her hands on. At the age of 10 she could be found painting murals on children’s walls and doing portraits of friends and family, and even sometimes their pets. In the early part of her creative life she worked in illustration, art direction and graphic design, even teaching college students the ins and outs of Photoshop and other design tools. Finding fine art again in her 30’s, Tanya quickly found her passion for painting. In 2002, leaving the computer and desk job behind, she shifted to the full-time creation of fine art. Today, Tanya finds herself traveling the country exhibiting in art fairs and enjoying the amazing adventures, experiences and people she finds along the way. Her focus is in the realm of abstraction, from linear movement, to flowing watery scenes or images of infinite landscapes that lead you into the canvas and take you on a journey. These paintings emerge from moments and experiences or simply the mood of the day. Each piece can be described as a mediative visitation of lingering memories and feelings, impressions of places either experienced or imagined.

My travels of the past few years have taken me to many new places. These journeys have been overwhelmingly inspiring. While I still am creating the abtract works that I deeply love, I have begun to paint images of the places that I have encountered in my travels of this country. Much of the new spaces that inspire me are in the west. A place which has filled me with enchantment and wonder.
