About The Artist
It was a natural progression for Lyn to combine her professional psychology, and art therapy background with the power of the universal language of color. The focus as an artist extends her psychology background emphasizing that emotional and psychological health is imperative. She believe art has healing powers.
It was in a painting class at age five, that Lyn first experienced the joy of colors. She was soon viewing the world through colors communicating with each other. As a teenager, in rural Wisconsin,She had the opportunity to paint murals for local business and assist with curating exhibits and contests.
Lyn received a BFA in Psychology, and studied for her MA in Art Therapy at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. After working in the psychiatric field for close to a decade, she chose to return to her first love. ART!
For the past thirty-five years Lyn has exhibited at some of the top public venues across the country and have received numerous awards. Her artwork can be found in hundreds of private collections, and many corporate collections. Since embarking on this artist lifestyle journey Lyn has served on multiple art organization boards and committees.
My journey as an artist began in a chaotic household as the seventh of fifteen children. At age five I first experienced the joy of colors and the way they communicate. I feel incredibly grateful to have spent the past 35 years creating art from my soul to share with others. The ancient process of verre e’glomise' which I have been focused on mastering is endlessly fascinating.
Each piece starts out as a transparent canvas. The first stroke of paint that I apply sets the tone for the multiple layers that draw the viewer in. This is an unforgiving process as every stroke is permanent. I execute this ancient medium honoring its history, but adding techniques that I have been developing in the dance between the art and myself. An outpouring from my inner depths. I believe in the healing role that art plays in the internal growth that we all seek. My desire is for the viewer to connect on an emotional level. It is incredibly rewarding to frequently hear how my work makes people happy. I consider this a worthy mission.
Everything is about communication. I believe that we all desire to connect. Connecting art, the viewer and the personality of a space is where my interest lies. I acknowledge the power of all colors and their capacity to elicit an array of emotional responses.
Since embarking on my artistic journey I have actively volunteered for multiple art organizations with the intention of making art more accessible to everyone.
My recently deceased husband Randy and I have worked independently and cooperatively in many different medias, each building on what went before. Without my beloved by my side, I am now exploring healing deep grief via the therapeutic impact of art.
With a thankful heart
