About The Artist
Hello! I'm Natalie. I have loved creating art my whole life but it wasn't until the last 7 years that I really sat down and worked on developing my skill as an oil painter. I am not formally trained and have a bachelors in geography and environmental studies. I found time at night or days off from my regular day job to learn and grow as a painter.
I grew up in Southern California and and fell in love with the great outdoors early in life thanks to parents that frequently took our family road tripping and camping. As I grew older, I found a passion for hiking and backpacking. Living in a state that harbors a wide array of environments fostered my desire to create art that celebrated all forms of the natural environment. From high alpine lakes and snow capped mountains to the dry, sun soaked deserts and wave beaten shore lines; I strive to paint it all.
With my artwork I hope to inspire others to get outside and develop a deeper connection with the natural world we are so lucky to be apart of.
I derive most of my inspriation for my work from photos taken during long roadtrips, weekly hikes and backpacking trips that I frequently go on throughout each year. I find something to love and be inspired by in all natural environments whether it be desert, ocean or the mountains. I never want to limit myself to painting just one type of scenery when there is so much beauty to be found in all types of environments. I am very excited to introduce more pieces that celebrate my love of the diverse landscapes of not just California but the entire western half of the United States. I have strong family roots in the Adirondack mountains of upstate New York as well. After visiting this past summer, I will be bringing some of the east coast with me back to Southern California and showing some new pieces showcasing the gorgeous green landscapes and riverscapes of the Adirondacks alongside my west coast pieces.
